Hot Stone Massage in Naples: What It Is and Who Should Skip It

On our menu it is Thermal Stone Massage, which is the same treatment most people search for as hot stone. It is one of the more misunderstood things we offer — guests often expect stones to simply be left on their back, which is a small part of it at most.

What actually happens

Smooth basalt stones are warmed and used by your therapist as an extension of their hands — glided along the back, the shoulders and the legs, with some placed and left to rest while they work elsewhere. It is a full massage throughout. The stones change how the massage feels rather than replacing it.

The temperature is checked against your skin before anything is placed, and it should be pleasantly hot and never uncomfortable. If a stone is too warm, say so immediately — that is a normal thing to say and your therapist would far rather hear it.

Why people book it

The honest reason to choose it over a standard massage is that warmth lets a therapist work more deeply without pressing harder. If you want the sensation of thorough work but find firm pressure unpleasant, this is the treatment that bridges the two.

It is also, reliably, the most-booked massage among guests who are always cold. Naples runs its air conditioning hard, and a surprising number of people arrive colder than they realise.

Who it suits

  • Anyone who wants depth without firm pressure.
  • People who find standard massage rooms a little cool.
  • Tension across the shoulders and upper back that tightens in cold air.
  • Anyone who has found Swedish pleasant but a bit light.

Who should skip it

This is the part most descriptions leave out, so here it is plainly. Book something else, or speak to your physician first, if:

  • You are pregnant. Book Maternity Massage instead.
  • You have reduced sensation anywhere the stones would be used, so that you might not feel heat normally.
  • You have a skin condition, a recent burn, or broken skin in the area.
  • You have any condition affecting your circulation or your response to heat.
  • You simply dislike being hot. It is not a minor feature of the treatment.

We are a day spa rather than a medical practice, so for anything on that list the answer comes from your physician, not from us. Tell your therapist when you arrive either way.

Length and price

Sixty minutes is $138, ninety is $198. Sixty is enough to understand whether you like it. Ninety is the better experience, because the warmth takes a while to do its work and an hour goes quickly once it has.

Common questions

How hot are the stones?

Warm enough to be distinctly hot and comfortable to hold. Your therapist tests each one before it touches you and adjusts if you say it is too much.

Do the stones just sit on my back?

No. They are worked along the muscles for most of the session. Some resting placement happens while your therapist works another area.

Is it as deep as a deep tissue massage?

Not quite, and it gets there differently. If you want focused work on one stubborn area, book Deep Tissue. If you want a thorough, warm, full-body hour, book this.

Can I add anything?

Aromatherapy at $10 pairs well with the heat and is the smallest upgrade on the menu.

Ocean Breeze Spa is on Tamiami Trail East in Naples, open daily. See the full massage menu or book online.
